Cleaner

Responsibilities

  • Clean resident rooms, offices, toilets, and dining areas thoroughly.
  • Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors to maintain high hygiene standards.
  • Use commercial cleaning products safely and effectively.
  • Operate floor buffers and high-pressure hoses.
  • Follow infection control protocols to ensure health and safety.
  • Record completed cleaning tasks accurately.
  • Securely store cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Report safety or damage issues promptly to the manager.
  • Work with the Stores Officer to manage supply needs.
  • Keep work areas tidy and organised.
  • Follow safety and hygiene policies consistently.
  • Support cultural inclusivity in line with the Human Rights Act 2019.
  • Work rostered day shifts with flexibility as required.
  • Assist with deep cleaning during maintenance periods.
  • Contribute to a safe, positive workplace.

Requirements

Education

  • High school certificate or equivalent preferred.

Experience

  • 1–2 years of commercial or industrial cleaning experience preferred.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Time management to complete rostered tasks.
  • Clear communication for reporting issues.
  • Physical stamina for repetitive cleaning duties.
  • Ability to work effectively with facility staff.
  • Cultural sensitivity to support diverse communities.

Knowledge

  • Understanding of commercial cleaning products.
  • Safe handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Familiarity with infection control practices.
