Pāmu Farms is on the lookout for a Dairy Farm Assistant to join the crew at Renown Dairy in Waikato. This full-time role runs until May 2026, with hands-on work like milking, calving support, feeding stock, effluent management, fencing, and general farm maintenance. Pay ranges from $29–$31 per hour, depending on your background and how quickly you pick up the ropes.
Accommodation is included, so you can settle in and focus on the work. You don’t need years of experience, just a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Training is provided, and safety is always front and centre.

Job Title
Dairy Farm Assistant – Renown Dairy
Responsibilities
- Assist with once-a-day milking in a 60-bail rotary shed.
- Monitor calving, supporting cows and calves when needed.
- Prepare and distribute feed rations accurately.
- Operate effluent systems responsibly to protect waterways.
- Carry out spraying and weed control safely.
- Repair and maintain farm fencing and infrastructure.
- Check herd health and report any concerns promptly.
- Use farm technology (e.g., yield monitors, drafting systems).
- Keep milking equipment and yards clean and hygienic.
- Support and guide new staff or trainees.
- Record daily activities in the farm’s digital system.
- Follow farm safety procedures and policies.
- Collaborate with the team on seasonal and big tasks.
Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Agricultural training or NZQA certifications are a bonus.
Experience
- 1–2 years in dairy or stock work helpful.
- Enthusiastic beginners are welcome, training provided.
Skills
- Able to work independently or in a team.
- Strong communication for reporting herd and task issues.
- Animal welfare awareness (spotting sickness or lameness).
- Safe handling of quads, tractors, and tools.
- Initiative and a can-do approach to tasks.
Knowledge
- Basics of dairy farming and herd management.
- Understanding effluent and grazing systems.
- Familiarity with fencing repairs and farm maintenance.
- Awareness of farm safety and sustainability practices.
Applicant Location
This is an onsite role at Renown Dairy (between Taupō and Rotorua). Applicants must be prepared to work and live on-site.
