Drivers start early, hauling hook bins loaded with construction debris, weaving through Melbourne traffic, and dropping loads safely at the yard. Hook Truck Driver

Responsibilities

  • Operate hook truck safely under VicRoads regulations and Sycle policies.
  • Pick up and drop hook bins at job sites, monitoring weight for safe lifts.
  • Deliver loads to yard and unhook bins cleanly.
  • Navigate Melbourne traffic and hazards with care.
  • Complete logbooks for trips, weights, and kilometers.
  • Inspect cargo for loose or unsafe materials and report issues quickly.
  • Maintain vehicle with daily cab and tire checks.
  • Assist yard crew with forklift or bin moves when needed.
  • Ensure compliance at weigh stations and follow waste disposal regs.
  • Keep vehicle and work areas tidy, reporting mechanical issues promptly.
  • Adapt to overtime during high-demand demo projects.
  • Follow safety steps in all weather and site conditions.

Requirements

Education

  • High school completion or equivalent.
  • White Card preferred for site work.

Experience

  • 2–3 years driving hook bin trucks in construction or waste.
  • Clean Victorian driving abstract.

Skills

  • Strong heavy vehicle handling in urban and industrial areas.
  • Load balancing and safety judgment.
  • Clear communication with site managers.
  • Accurate paperwork and logbook skills.
  • Fit and capable of manual handling tasks.
  • Calm under pressure and deadlines.
