About the Role
We’re looking for a Beekeeper who is passionate about bees, pollination, and sustainable farming. This role involves maintaining healthy colonies for pollination and honey production while also helping with orchard work during the off-season.
You’ll play an important part in supporting our kiwifruit, nashi, and blueberry pollination programs and ensuring bee health, productivity, and quality honey harvests.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain strong and healthy bee colonies for pollination and honey production.
- Collect hive products — honey, beeswax, pollen, and propolis.
- Support all hive operations including treatment, splits, and honey extraction.
- Participate in queen rearing and manage breeding yards.
- Monitor and prevent hive diseases and pests.
- Identify and report hive health issues promptly.
- Prepare colonies for production and wintering cycles.
- Assist with orchard-related work when required.
You’ll Need To:
- Be genuinely passionate about beekeeping and open to learning.
- Have a strong work ethic, flexibility, and commitment to results.
- Enjoy working in a team-focused and diverse environment.
- Follow all health and safety guidelines and respect colleagues.
- Be physically fit and able to lift up to 25 kg.
- Communicate clearly and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred (Not Essential) Experience
- Commercial beekeeping experience.
- Queen rearing knowledge.
- Class 2 or higher driver’s licence.
- Forklift licence.
- DECA certification (Disease Elimination Conformity Agreement).
